The Coastal Forcing Index shows the coastal areas that are facing significant pressures from multiple forces driven by climate change, such as rising sea levels and increasing impacts of waves and storms coming from the sea, as well as extreme precipitation and desertification that are affecting both coastal areas and the inland. Population growth and tourists’ presence represent an added pressure to coastal and inland areas.
