Extreme heat is studied by calculating the Land Surface Temperature (LST), defined as the temperature felt when the earth's surface is touched with the hands, or the temperature of the skin on the ground. This temperature estimate is influenced by several parameters, including vegetation and surface emissivity. LST was estimated in relation to Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) values determined from red and near-infrared bands.
